The Kea Parrot

The Kea Parrot is a startlingly bright bird found in glacial and alpine regions in New Zealand. Apart from the Norwegian Blue it is the only Parrot to live in such conditions and the harsh environment has led to it evolving logical problem solving skills and the ability to work as a team. Groups of Kea have been known to attack and kill sheep and other animals much larger than themselves and more recently they have taken a shine to ripping the rubber lining off wind sheilds and opening untended backpacks in search of food.
