Loading ...When Mount Matavanu on the Island of Savai’i in Samoa erupted in 1905 the lava flow destroyed over 40 sq miles of the island erasing several villages forever. The lava also swept through a local church although legend has it that the flow parted and spared the burial place of a local nun known locally as ‘The Virgins Grave’.
